BIOGRAPHY

Adeeb Makki
Contemporary Visual Artist
Born in Baghdad, Iraq – 1951

Artistic & Professional Career

1970

Co-founded Iraq’s first children’s magazines, Majallati and Al-Mizmar, in collaboration with a group of Iraqi artists.

1972

Co-produced and co-directed, alongside artists Bassam Faraj and Moayad Neama, the first Iraqi animated film (10 minutes), titled American Football.

1993

Founded and managed Al-Zawiya Gallery, Baghdad — the first gallery in Iraq dedicated to watercolor art.
Held his first solo exhibition at Al-Orfali Gallery, Baghdad, Iraq.
Served as Director of Al-Riwaq Gallery, Baghdad, Iraq.

1997

Relocated to Amman, Jordan, where he produced numerous school textbooks for Dar Al-Manhal Publishing House, as well as a collection of children’s books for Jordanian writer Abeer Al-Taher.

2004

Moved to the United States of America, where he currently lives and works.
